Grand Island City Hall leaves more questions unanswered

Tools

It's been one thing after another at City Hall in Grand Island. Tuesday night at the city council meeting there was no City Administrator Mary Lou Brown.

The Mayor said last night because of all the tension that's transpired, he felt it was best that Brown wasn't there.

That's different from the Mayors statement last week, that Brown would be resuming full presence at City Hall until September 30th.

If you taken a drive past City Hall you might have seen obscene remarks posted on a truck outside of the building, evidence there's a lot of community anger.

When the city initially confirmed Brown's resignation, City Attorney Bob Sivick described Brown as a figure who runs the city and is a responsible for management but was a lightning rod for those issues.

News 5 tried to contact members of the council Wednesday to get more reaction from Tuesday night's meeting, some were unavailable for comment and others didn't return our phone calls.

Does there appear to be some ring leader on the council voting to keep Brown out?

Something led the Mayor to change his mind about Brown's presence at last nights meeting.

But the council doesn't have much say on issues like this one.

And that's the feedback we've heard from council members throughout this entire process.
