Thanksgiving is less than a week away and for the 4th year in a row local museums are kicking off a friendly food fight across the Tri Cities.

The Hastings Museum began collecting food for the annual "Sharing Through the Season" campaign.

In the spirit of friendly competition, the Hastings Museum, the Stuhr Musuem, and the Great Platte River Archway are challenging local residents to bring non-perishable food items to the locations until the end of the year.

"We're just going for bragging rights of we can do better than you," said Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson, with the Hastings Museum. "There's really no other competition, except for the fact that we know our museums have helped out the people who need food during the holidays."

Last year more than 5,000 pounds of food was collected between the three locations for local food banks.
