Garden Cafe announces closing in Hastings

Chances are good that you've had their muffins or pies. Maybe Sunday breakfast at Garden Café in Hastings is a family tradition. That along with memories will need to be started at a new location.

The Garden Café is closing at the end of the month.

The restaurant has been a meeting place in Hastings over the past 20 years.

A new lease agreement couldn't be reached between the Hastings Hotel and the restaurant.

The hotel will be opening a restaurant with a new name.

We spoke with the owner of The Garden Café who says he's pretty upset.

"20 years of my blood, sweat and tears, poured into this place. I've hired people, watched them grow up and their children are now working for me. This is something that I don't want to leave. It's not by choice, but it's part of what happens in this world," said general manager Shawn Gibson.

Lunch on December 24th will be the last meal you can eat at the Garden Café.

The new restaurant is schedule to open in February.
