Getting in shape for the New Year

As the year comes to a close many people are making resolutions, but usually the most popular of those is getting healthier.

So it's no surprise that area YMCAs seem to be a bit busier than normal.

Whether people are trying to shed some holiday pounds or get a jump on a resolution, one resident feels resolutions are easier to keep if you start at the beginning of the year.

"I think it's probably easier the first of the year to start the New Year out in a new way, to try to be healthier and burn off some of the holiday calories," said Warren Hull.

The YMCA reports at least a ten percent increase of membership and activity during the months of December and January.
