Glamorous Generosity helps girls shop for prom

by Katie Gauthier

Prom season is just around the corner. Girls need to be prepared from finding a date to selecting a dress.

And, one local organization is making sure that every girl has the perfect dress.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grand Island is collecting new and slightly used prom dresses, formal gowns, as well as jewelry and shoes.
They'll be sold during the fifth annual Glamorous Generosity event.
Between 400 to 600 dresses will be available for $20 or less.

Big Brothers Big Sisters says every year more families rely on this sale.

"Well some families, you know, they just can't afford to go out and spend $200 on a brand new dress. It's just not in their budget so this is a great way for their families to come in, save a little bit of money and still make the girls feel special on prom night," said Big Brothers Big Sisters Development Coordinator Jen Thompson.

You can donate a dress now through February 10th at the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Conestoga Mall, Maurice's, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in Grand Island.

Dresses go on sale at the Conestoga Mall beginning Saturday, February 18th.
