Governor announces campaign to help at risk veterans

National statistics show there are 18 to 22 veteran suicides per day.
Nebraska Governor Dave Heinenman wants to take care of that problem here in the Cornhusker state.

That's why he started Nebraska's "Not One More Life" Campaign.

Heineman made the announcement in Lincoln Friday with veteran and military leaders by his side.

The campaign has been started to bring public awareness that help is available for at risk veterans.

They are specifically concentrating on veterans with emotional problems that could result in suicide.

This campaign will use bumper stickers to promote a crisis hot line.

Work like that by the Governor is one reason he was named the Advocate of the year by the National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs.

The award is given to the Governor for his work on behalf of military service members, veterans, and their families.
