While at Husker Harvest Days Wednesday, governor Heineman stopped by the Nebraska Corn Board booth to declare September as Renewable Fuels Month.

The governor was joined by both the directors of the Nebraska Corn Board and the Nebraska Soybean Board for the announcement.
He says there are many benefits to using renewable fuels in rural economies.

And proclaiming September Renewable Fuels Month puts an importance and significance of agriculture.

"The roll that renewable fuels play in our overall national security and national energy policy that is important for America, it's important for Nebraska," said Heineman.

Nebraska is the second largest ethanol producing state with 24 ethanol plants that produce approximately two billion gallons of ethanol each year.
