Finding that perfect prom dress at Gowns for Good

Prom dresses can often times be an expensive investment. But, some girls are opting for a cheaper alternative, buying a used gown.

The YWCA of Adams County and Big Brothers Big Sisters are teaming up for the first annual Gowns for Good.

They're calling it Give Back, Get Back. A place to buy and sell used dresses for a low price.

There are over 200 gently used gowns to choose from.

"We really felt like the dresses are a one-time wear and there are crazy prices for some of the prom dresses out there," said Carissa Uhrmacher. "So, it would be nice to kind of use some of the dresses as a re-purpose in a way, and some of the people have spent a lot of money on dresses and they'd like to get something back out of it."

Today was the first of two days to buy dresses. Gowns cost between $30-$40.

You can browse the selection again on March 2nd from noon to 5 p.m. at the YWCA in Hastings.
