Grand Island and Kearney issue snow emergencies

The city of Grand Island and the city of Kearney have both declared a snow emergency.

Grand Island's will take effect beginning at noon Wednesday.
And right now is scheduled to end at 12:00 noon Friday.

The City of Kearney's snow emergency will go into effect at 6:00 this evening and is scheduled until 6:00 am on Friday.

During this time, you cannot park on the city's snow emergency routes. Those routes are marked with red, white, and blue snow emergency signs.

Any parked or abandoned vehicles on emergency routes will be towed away.

Residents are also strongly encouraged to limit travel until the streets are cleared.
