A family was displaced Thursday night after firefighters responded to a blaze in Grand Island late Thursday afternoon. The fire happened on Woodridge Blvd but no injuries were reported.

Grand Island firefighters responded to the call around 4:20 pm.

Numerous fire crews arrived to fight the blaze.

The Red Cross also responded.

According to the operations division chief Tim Hiemer, the fire started on the backside of the home and extended to the second floor then to the attic.

A dog was inside of the home at the time but was able to escape.

The Red Cross will assist the family in future living arrangements. The home is not a total loss but there is heavy exterior damage.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
