Grand Island hosts annual community dinner

Tools

All the traditional favorites were on the menu Tuesday afternoon for the annual community Christmas dinner in Grand Island.

Along with great food, Christmas carolers also entertained the crowd. This was the 15th year for the dinner. Nearly one thousand community members were expected to attend Tuesday's feast.

This couple have been helping serve meals since the dinner began and say it's something they just enjoy doing.

"It's very heartening to see the growth of this in the community," said Hemje. "I've been a member of the community since 1952. It's hard to fix food this good on this scale, but this was good today."

The dinner was held at St. Paul Lutheran's Church, but you didn't have to be a member to attend. Anyone was welcome.
