Grand Island man killed in train collision

A Grand Island man is dead after a train smashes into his car late Friday night. The accident happened just after 11:00 near the Union Pacific Interchange and Engleman Road.

Authorities say 34-year-old James Petersen was the only person in the vehicle and was dead when they arrived on scene.

Police say it appears Petersen parked on the tracks and it may have been a suicide.
