Back in October Grand Island Mayor Jay Vavricek formed a 24 citizen mayor's advisory council. It's his way of gaining greater community awareness on topics of interest in the city.

Monday night they tackled the city administrator's position. It's a position in Grand Island that's gotten a lot of talk, and been in headlines a number of times this past year.

The group focused specifically on what that role should be in a mayor and council form of government.

"Just to hear the thoughts on what are on people's minds, but also kind of get better grips of where to go in the future meetings so counting opportunity of discussion and here and listen," said Vavricek.

The Mayor's Advisory Council meetings are open to the public. They're held the third Monday each month at City Hall.
