Grand Island special election comes with a hefty price tag
Last Friday the Grand Island Mayor officially submitted his rebuttal to the recall effort against him. The 60 word statement was filed with the Hall County Election Commissioner's Office.
But if enough signatures are collected for the petition the election process won't come without a hefty price. Hall County Election commissioner Dale Baker says it would cost the city approximately $10,000 to $12,000 for a special election. "The costs would go to the political sub-division so the city would pay for any costs that we incur in this office as far as additional staffing to verify the signatures and if the recall election happens," said Election Commissioner Dale Baker. The Hall County Election Commissioners office has twenty days to get the petitions printed. September 17th is the first day that signatures can be collected. |
