Grant helps Y purchase bus to transport kids

by Brittany Rainey

The Hastings Y gets thousands to help it get local students to after school programs. With a $10,000 grant from the Sunnyside Foundation, the Y bought a bigger school bus.

This one is more fuel efficient and holds more students.

Now they can transport more students to the zone after school program at the police station and to the Y in one trip.

"So as a community based organization working with the YWCA, the police station, the school system, and the YMCA we wanted to make sure we had a we did everything we can to give these kids a nice productive place to be after school," said Hastings YMCA CEO Michael Krings.
