"Great Expectations" will debut soon at Hastings Museum

It's the next best thing to being at the actual performance. Hastings Museum is bringing the stage to the big screen with "Great Expectations."

The play is based on the The Charles Dickens classic. It was staged in London's West End. This isn't a musical, and it's not a movie production. It's a filmed version of the stage performance of the play. And Hastings Museum was the first theater in Nebraska to book the performance.

"It's very difficult to stage, so it's never been in London or in New York on Broadway in the past. This is the first production of that level and it's getting rave reviews," said Becky Tideman, Hastings Museum.

The museum is hoping to bring in other stage productions to the big screen like ballet, opera and even symphonies.

Great Expectations will be shown March 29 through 31st. And April 5th and 7th. Tickets are $5.50.
