Hall County ag land sees value increase

Hall County ag land is increasing in value. It's something that'll affect about 4,000 properties. The assessment changes are based on the past 3 years of market sales.

Hall County Assessor Jan Pelland says sale prices have been increasing and state law requires ag land to be at no more than 75 percent of the market range.

Pelland says she will recommend a 25 percent increase for the top four classes of irrigated ground. And a 30 percent increase on the bottom four classes.

The bottom four classes of grassland will go up in value by 25 percent.

Dry land values also increased.

Many local farmers will receive valuation notices on June 1st, but they won't see new tax rates until October.
