Halsey wildfire now fully contained

Five days after a wildfire started burning one thousand acres of Nebraska National Forest Grasslands, officials are saying that fire is 100 percent contained.

At 3:00 Wednesday afternoon District Ranger Tim Buskirk made the announcement.

The Camp 5 Fire started on June 30th approximately 22 miles southeast of Halsey by a lightning strike during a thunderstorm.
That fire has burned 1,043 acres of National Forest grassland and timber.

No structures or outbuildings were burned or damaged.

Due to the dry conditions, fireworks are not allowed anywhere on National Forest lands in the state of Nebraska.
