Hastings Chamber holds annual banquet

The Hastings area Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting Wednesday night at the Adams County Fairgrounds. They, of course, recognized local businesses, and also talked about how to keep them around.

One issue the board had to deal with was the Humane Society of the United States trying to impact the ability of agricultural producers in Nebraska to raise livestock.

"We were the first chamber in Nebraska to take a stand against groups wanting to shut down agriculture, which would hurt every sector of agriculture business," said Chamber President Tom Hastings.

The Pioneer Spirit Award was handed out this year to Pepsi.

Also a new honor this year was the Emerging Talent Award.
