Major Abe Tamayo with the Hastings Salvation Army talked with News 5 about the upcoming holiday season and how you can help or receive help.

Amy West: Pretty soon it's going to be Thanksgiving, then Christmas and the Salvation Army has things lined up for both of those, right?

Abe Tamayo: We do the annual Thanksgiving dinner that will be on the 22nd of November from 11:00 to 1:00. We've had people come down and enjoy the festivities and enjoy the company if they're not homeless or alone. Just come down. If you like volunteering you can call 463-0529 or go to tsahastings.com and find information.

Amy: Fantastic. And you are also accepting donations and applications for your Christmas program, correct?

Abe: We are receiving applications for our Christmas program through mid-December so we encourage people to come down and put those applications in soon so people are aware of the time frames we have in place.

Amy: How can people help with that program and be involved in it?

Abe: They can spread the word around for one thing. If they want to make a contribution to the program they can make a check to the Salvation Army or bring in new toys and coats and we'll get those distributed as well.

Amy: Are you looking for a certain age or a span from adult to kids?

Abe: Well, for the toys we're looking for up to age 12.

Amy: Skateboards for the teenagers?

Abe: We do get skateboards. You're more than welcome to come in with all those types of things.

Amy: There is always more information at tsahastings.com
