A two-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a car while running across the street.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the accident happened just after 8 p.m. Saturday, near the intersection of 7th and Laird.

Authorities say 18-year-old Dusty Consbruck was driving east on 7th street and did not see the toddler run across the street.

The state patrol says Consbruck's 2001 Buick LeSabre hit the child and dragged the boy a short distance.

Emergency crews took the boy to Mary Lanning Heathcare where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say they have notified the toddler's family, but the State Patrol has not yet identified the boy.

Officials say no charges have been filed. Nebraska State Patrol was called in by the Hastings Police Department to assist in the accident.
