Hastings city council votes on Duncan Field renovation

At Monday night's Hastings City Council one architect company hit a home-run and Hastings baseball fans took one step closer to home plate for a new look at Duncan Field.

City Council members voted 8 to 0 Monday night to award the contract for Phase 2 of the Duncan field renovation to architectural company Alley Poyner.

The contract is not to exceed $108,000 for Phase 2.

Phase 2 includes preparing construction documents.

City council also approved the contract for Phase 3 of the project to Alley Poyner.

The renovation project totals $2.4 million and includes additional seating, a new concessions stands, locker rooms, and a new press box.

At Monday night's meeting, Eric Christensen of Hastings Parks and Recreation says the renovations will also include ramps to make Duncan field more handicap accessible, but it will not include an elevator.
