Heartland Pet Connection debuts "Fast and the Furriest" event
It's a big milestone for the Heartland Pet Connection.Thursday is their eighth anniversary. Eight years ago they came to Hastings. Lynn Jasnoch visited with News 5 about this and a special event coming up this weekend.
Lynn Jasnoch: Eight years ago today at 10:00 we cut the ribbon and opened the shelter. So we're very proud. We've got 80 more to go. So we're really excited that the community has supported us, backed us. We just think we are in the right place at the right time. Amy West: And you are busier than ever. A big event is coming up in just a couple days. Lynn: Exactly. We are really excited about the "Fast and the Furriest." It's this Saturday at Motor Sports Park in Hastings. There are events for all ages and all fur types, you could say. We have great pet costume contests, the hotdog dunk - which is only for the dogs. And then we have the 5k, 10k runs, the fun 1 mile dog walk, pony rides, inflatables, a pie baking contest. If you want to enter your pie call the shelter and we'll get you all the details. $8 admission and that gets you a free lunch sponsored by Russ's Market and Boyd's here in town. You can't beat it. Come on out. It's from 11:00 to 5:00. We have a microchip clinic going on. There is just something for everybody. Amy: For more information you can to your Facebook page? Lynn: Yes, we're keeping that updated, answering questions on there. And if you just want to call in to the shelter we're answering the phones all day today and all day tomorrow because they're ringing off the hook. So we're really excited and hope to see everyone out there Saturday. |
