Honoring a 'Shining Star' for her work

For nearly 30 years, she has been educating and promoting good heath to the Hastings area.

Tonight, Judy Sandeen received a big award for her work against HIV and AIDS.

Sandeen was honored with the Shining Star award by the Nebraska AIDS Project Saturday night.

The award is only given to one recipient statewide each year.

Sandeen was selected due to her willingness to help raise awareness, provide education and organize fundraisers that enable NAP to do what they do.

"It means so much to me because the work that I have done and the people that I have met through HIV prevention has been so important to me for the past 22 years, so the award is pretty amazing," said Sandeen.

The Star will be placed at the Hastings College Stone Health Center.
