More than four hundred young people will gather in Grand Island for the 2012 State 4-H Horse Exposition being held at Fonner State Park.

4-H members began checking in this afternoon. Those who earned blue and purple ribbons at one of Nebraska's six district 4-H horse shows are qualified to compete in their specific events.

Some of the events include Trail Horse, Western and English riding and Halter competition.

For the 4-H members, it's more than just a competition.

"This is the state fair for the 4-Hers. They do not show at the state fair in Grand Island in August, at the end of August, the first of September. Their state fair is here at Fonner Park this week."

The majority of the events start Monday morning and run through Thursday.
