Doctors are reminding people to go to the hospital immediately if they experience symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The two illnesses are a major concern in high heat and humidity.

Trauma Coordinator at Mary Lanning Brenda Carlson says anyone working outside needs to take frequent breaks and drink lots of water, but the young and elderly are most susceptible to the heat.

"Get out of the sun, start pushing the fluids, and sit down in the shade or fan," Carlson said. "Just try and let your body cool yourself . Also, sweating is actually a good thing."

Heat exhaustion is the most common illness caused by the heat.
But, Mary Lanning says they've only seen a few cases so far this summer.
