Human West Nile case reported in Hamilton County

For the first time this season, a positive case of the West Nile Virus has been reported. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services says a Hamilton county man in his 70's tested positive.

He was hospitalized and released.

The state's Chief Medical Officer says West Nile activity is increasing across the state.

And, if you haven't been taking precautions to avoid mosquito bites,
You should start now by: using mosquito repellent containing DEET, dressing in long-sleeved shirts, pants and socks when you're outside especially around dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
