Johanns, Fischer react to State of the Union address

Nebraska lawmakers were part of the assembled audience for last night's address.

Nebraska Republican U.S. Senator Mike Johanns said, "The stirring sound bites we have heard over that time amount to little more than calls for higher taxes and increased spending, but they lacked a clear picture how more of the same big-government policies would improve our economy or create jobs."

Sen. Deb Fischer also said, "I was disappointed that instead of hearing realistic ideas to cut government spending, the President focused his speech on plans to increase spending under the pretext of job creation."
