Is this the end of Project Edge in Kearney? The Des Moines News Register is reporting officials and legal counsel met just last week to finalize details of a $1.5 billion data center saying they want to sign a contract and buy property by year's end.

That data center is for the city of Altoona.

And that just so happens to be the city Kearney has been battling all year.

They both wanted to land a contract with a company that has been rumored to be Apple or Facebook. No one has confirmed that.

News 5 did speak with Kearney Mayor Stan Clouse Thursday night. He said he has not been notified either way about the project. He would be disappointed if Iowa wins the bid, but that the land has been marketed to other data centers across the country.
