Kearney revisits vote on chicken ordinance
A lot of Nebrakans grow their their own produce and raise their own livestock. But in Kearney, barn yard animals like chickens aren't allowed within the city limits.
Tuesday night the Kearney City Council will decide whether that should change - whether chickens should be allowed within the city limits or not.
The discussion started in July of 2012 when the city planner Lance Lang looked at revising the animal control ordinance which prohibited chickens within city limits.
Residents were not happy about the restriction and now it's up to the city.
If the council approves the revised code, residents will be allowed to keep chickens in their backyards.
