Kerrey and Fischer debate in Omaha

Tools

Friday marked the second of three debates between U.S. Senate candidates Deb Fischer and Bob Kerrey in Omaha. One of the many topics was whether or not the country's become an entitlement nation.

"The problem is it's a sixty trillion dollar unfunded liability and the question is are we going to solve the problem? Are we going to pander to the audience? One more time and ignore it. And if we ignore it God help the United States of America," said Kerrey.

"I've always said that there are four priorities of state government and those are public education, public safety, public infrastructure and taking care of those who truly cannot take care of themselves. That applies to our federal government as well," Fischer said.

The next debate is on Monday evening at the NET studios in Lincoln.
And if you're keeping track we just are 39 days away from the election.
