Lawsuits filed over Landon Payne abuse case

Friday marks the 3 year of the anniversary of the death of Landon Payne. The four year old died after he was abused and tortured by some of his own family members His case is still fresh in people's minds.

The Department of Health and Human Services in Nebraska is facing a one million dollar lawsuit for negligence from 2006 to 2009 that led to the death of Landon Payne.

Prosecutors say for months the Minden boy was tortured and beaten at the hands of his aunt Sharon Turnell, her husband Charles and their daughter's ex-husband Dustin Scoville.

Kearney County and the city of Minden are also facing a lawsuit.

Landon's father, Clinton Payne says his son's death cannot be forgotten.

He says hopefully this will prevent another death like Landon's.
