A Kansas man is behind bars, arrested for causing a deadly crash in Lexington. It happened just before midnight Tuesday.

Nebraska State Patrol Captain, Jim Parish, says a trooper tried to stop 22-year-old Destry Swartz for reckless driving. But, Swartz drove away and led troopers on a brief pursuit.

It ended tragically when Swartz ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 283 and Cattlemen Drive and collided with another pick-up.
The driver of that pick up died at the scene of the crash.

Swartz was not hurt. Neither was a 17 year old male teenager riding with him. Swartz is charged with motor vehicle homicide, plus flight to avoid arrest, driving under the influence, and reckless driving.
