With the holidays right around the corner, two local museums kicked off their holiday celebrations this weekend.

Around 70 local organizations attended the 30th annual Festival of Trees at the Hastings Museum.

"We have about 70 trees," said Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson, with the Hastings Museum. "Last year we had about 60, so it's really exciting to see all the new trees and the different organizations starting to take part in the Festival of Trees."

The La Camerata Madrigal Singers performed holiday music at the Stuhr Museum in Grand Island. It's part of the museum's Fantasy of Trees preview event.

"I think as people were walking around looking at the beautiful trees and the beginning of Christmas, that they were really enjoying the Christmas music in the background and having our singers here all clad in their Elizabethan costumes," said Pam Ahlman, Director of the La Camerata Madrigal Singers.

"They were fantastic. They had some real nice acoustics in here and it just kinda helped put everyone in the spirit pretty well," said Mike Bockoven, Marketing Director at the Stuhr Museum.

Over 100 trees were decorated at the Stuhr Museum. Visitors could also decorate gingerbread houses.
