After being hit by a train back in January, Adams Central Junior, Cassidy Wormstadt, is showing improvement.

Foggy and icy conditions caused the young driver to slide into a passing train.

A benefit for Wormstadt was held at the Disabled American Veterans Club in Hastings Saturday.

All proceeds will help pay her medical bills.

"Oh it's amazing," said Cassidy's brother, Cody Wormstadt. "It's really awesome seeing all the people come out showing their support. All the buckets everywhere and the bank accounts that keep rising in funds. It's amazing. She's very lucky. We all are."

She's currently in the pediatric wing of the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln.

Her family says she's responsive, making complete sentences and eating on her own. But, they're not sure if she'll be able to walk again.
