Mailboxes destroyed overnight in Grand Island

Several residents in Grand Island woke Saturday morning to find their mailboxes had been vandalized overnight.

Five mailboxes along the east side of St. Paul Road were destroyed.

The mailboxes were in a two mile stretch on St. Paul Road, which is about two miles north of Grand Island.

Residents are trying to figure out why someone would waste their time smashing mailboxes.

"I wish they had something more constructive to do," said Mike Ehlers. "Sixty bucks, sixty five bucks and a couple hours of time to put this mailbox up. I really didn't want to spend my Saturday doing that."

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is working on the case, but so far they have no leads.

They are asking the public to call the Hall County Sheriff's Office with any information regarding the case.
