Man arrested in Ord murder returns to Nebraska
For over twenty years, police have been trying to figure out who killed Cathy Beard. The 31 year old was last seen alive in Ord in 1989. The case has come full circle Wednesday night. An arrest was made Tuesday.
And, now the man charged in the murder of Beard is coming back to Nebraska. 45 year old John Oldson has waived extradition and will be transported back to Nebraska within the week. Oldson is facing first degree murder charges and is currently being held on a one million dollar bond. Wednesday Oldson waived extradition meaning he will be brought back to Nebraska. A press conference was held in Missouri regarding the arrest. Oldson has a history of violence against women and children. He was convicted of assault in 1989 of a 51 year old female in Burwell, Nebraska and sentenced to 9 months in jail. Then in 1992, he was convicted again of two separate assaults against women. And, his criminal past doesn't end there. In 2003, Oldson he was convicted of felony child abuse and sentenced to prison for sticking needles into the stomachs of his two step-daughters. Oldson's first court appearance is set for February 6th in Ord at the Valley County Courthouse. We will continue to stay with this story as it develops. |
