Grand Island's interim Parks and Recreation Director Todd McCoy may soon take on the position permanently. Mayor Jay Vavricek has recommended McCoy be for the job.

McCoy will be in front of City Council next Tuesday night in hopes of becoming Grand Island's next Parks and Recreation Director.

McCoy graduated from UNK in 1997 and since that time he has been working for the city as the recreation superintendent.

Thirty-four people applied for the position.

McCoy would be replacing Steve Paustian, who retired earlier this year.
