Merger planned for U.S. Airways and American Airlines
Two of the nation's largest airlines seem to be on the runway to forming the world's largest. According to CNBC, U.S. Airways is set to merge with American Airlines.
Both of the air carrier unions have agreed to the deal. It's just awaiting the OK from creditors.
News 5 spoke with the Central Nebraska Regional Airport director Mike Olson about the impact this could have on the Grand Island airport.
American Eagle, which flies to Dallas out of GI, is owned by American Airlines.
Olson said he doesn't foresee any changes mainly because of how happy American has been with the very profitable relationship it has with Grand Island.
