Mid-Nebraska Karaoke challenge returns
All you singers get your microphones out. There is an event coming up that you'll want to be a part of. Craig Anderson and Dale Fillinger visited with News 5 about the Mid-Nebraska Karaoke Challenge which is going on the 17th and 18th of January.
Amy West: Craig, will you fill me in on what this is for?
Craig Anderson: What we're doing is raising money to help the Memorial Wall at the Veteran's Home in Grand Island. There's a park out there. We're raising money to add the bricks and names of the veterans from the local area that have been involved in the wars past and present.
Amy: And last year, Dale, this money went to the Hero Flight to Washington, correct?
Dale Fillinger: Right. We were sending the World War II vets to Washington D.C. to see the memorial there and that was a big success. And we've had probably 300 people both nights for that. A lot of good singers and we're hoping to top that this year so anybody that wants to sing come over. We're still looking for donations from sponsors so if anyone wants to send a donation please feel free to send it to club over at Grand Island. (Or at www.givetsclub.com)
Amy: We want to remind people that great voices are welcome. The top 50 that sign up get to be in the challenge and then anybody can come to participate and to donate and be a part of refurbishing this wall.
Dale: The first place is $300 and we're going to play the first four places so it's worthwhile to come over and enter.
Amy: Now, ok, I'm not a singer. What advice would you give people in this challenge? Any secret to winning?
Craig: Practice your songs and come out. We're at many locations. You can find us on Facebook with Evolution Entertainment. We're at many locations in the area so you can come out and practice with us.
