More cases of Whooping Cough reported in state

Pertussis, otherwise known as the whooping cough, has been in the headlines across the country lately. Now there are at least three more confirmed cases in Central Nebraska.

The Two Rivers Public Health Department, based out of Holdrege, reported the cases.

So far in Nebraska, the total number of cases is 69. There were only 36 all of last year.

Parents are advised their young kids immunized against the disease.
You can catch the whooping cough simply by being coughed or sneezed on by someone with the pertussis bacteria.

If you think your kids might have the whooping cough you should get them to a doctor immediately.
