Many of us have already made our Thanksgiving plans, but for some area kids next Thursday will be the first holiday celebration with their forever families. Today was National Adoption Day. Here in Adams County, eight families welcomed 11 kids ages two to eight into their homes. After adoptions were finalized in court this morning, the families enjoyed lunch at the Hastings YMCA. Over the past ten years, more than 30,000 adoptions have been finalized nationwide on National Adoption Day.
"They don't have to worry about coming back into the court system they don't have to worry about if they're going to be disrupted or being abused they just get to have a forever family where they'll get to live and get to call someone Mom and Dad for the rest of their lives," said RuAnn Root with CASA.
This is the sixth year for Adoption Day in Adams County.
