Nebraska-Kansas water battle moves to east coast
The Republican River battle between Nebraska and Kansas now involves the state of Maine.
That's where a federal judge is hearing the case this week. The high court decided to let Kansas reopen the case arguing that Nebraska used more than its allocated share of water from the river in 2005 and 2006. Kansas officials contend the overuse violates the settlement of a 19-98 lawsuit between the two states. The Supreme Court also appointed a special master to hear the new petition, this week in Portland, Maine. |
