Nebraska ordered to pay in Republican River battle
In the Republican River battle Nebraska is being told to pay up. But, not as much as Kansas was hoping for.
Special Master William Kayatta, acting as the judge in the Republican River lawsuit between Kansas and Nebraska, recommends that Nebraska pay Kansas $5 million for failing to comply with a compact regarding water usage in the Republican River between the two back in 2006. Kansas was seeking $80 million. Counsels for the states have until Jan. 22 to submit comments before a final recommendation is sent to the U.S. Supreme Court. |
