It's that fluffy, salty snack that's hard to resist at the movies. Popcorn. And, one of Nebraska's leading popcorn companies celebrated its 15th anniversary Thursday.

Preferred Popcorn also celebrated the opening of a new office in Chapman, just north of Grand Island.

Governor Dave Heineman was there to congratulate the company, whose CEO credits success to the growing popularity of popcorn on the global scale.

"Nebraskans and people in the U.S. love popcorn, but it's really quite new in some parts of the world, so that provides exciting opportunity for growth for our state and for our nation," said

The company operated out of a remodeled garage when it first started. Now, they represent over 1,000 farmers.
