Nebraska scores low on energy efficiency
When it comes to energy efficiency, Nebraska is just not making the grade. In fact, the Cornhusker State is among the nation's top ten states most in need of improvement.
That's according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. The Council released its sixth annual State Energy Efficiency Scorecard Wednesday. While Nebraska Power Association says the state's electric utilities reported saving 80,000 Mega Watt Hours in 2010 from energy efficiency activities, Nebraska natural gas utilities do not offer energy efficiency programs at this time. The ACEEE says statewide spending on customer energy efficiency programs in 2010 was $10.3 million, but there are no energy efficient resource standards. Kansas, South Dakota, and Wyoming were also in the bottom ten. Massachusetts came in at number one for most energy efficient state. |
