Nebraska senators urge Obama to approve pipeline

Nebraska U.S. Senators are voicing their reaction to Governor Heineman's official approval Tuesday of the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline route through Nebraska.

The State Department says it anticipates not being able to conclude its own review before the end of 2013's first quarter.

That timeframe may not be quick enough for Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns.

He thinks the project should move forward, now.

In a statement, the Senator said, quote, "With Governor Heineman's approval now conveyed to President Obama, it is time to give it the final green light."

Johanns continued, saying he hopes the president will "swiftly approve the project so we can take a significant step forward in meeting our energy needs."

Senator Deb Fischer echoes Johanns thoughts. She said in a statement, quote; "I join my Nebraska colleagues in calling on the president to serve as a partner in moving this critical project forward instead of simply standing in the way."
