A new poll said nearly half of Nebraskans oppose the Trans Canada Keystone XL Pipeline. The voter survey was funded by 3 organizations – Bold Nebraska, an environmental advocacy group, the Nebraska Wildlife and Nebraska Sierra club.
It said Nebraskans want state regulations regarding the pipeline and want their elected leaders to take action.
Poll results show 48% of people polled oppose the pipeline, 19% support it and 33 percent are undecided.
For us we wanted to be able to show our elected officials that Nebraskans approve it and more importantly from our perspective that Nebraskans expect elected officials to be asking questions on this, and that we want to see state regulations and an emergency response plan that we currently don't have.
The proposed pipeline would run from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico crossing right through Nebraska.
According to the survey, 76% of Nebraskans want to see more state regulations on the pipeline and 84% want elected leaders to be asking questions about the pipeline.
