New details emerge in Blue Hill crash investigation
We have new information on the tragic truck-school bus crash Wednesday in Blue that killed four, devastating a community.
News 5 talked with a private investigator who has been looking into the accident. We are not disclosing his name at this time.
The investigator says preliminary fact-finding suggests that speed was not a factor, that both the school bus and the semi were going well under the speed limit.
He also says speculation that tall corn at the intersection may have played a role, does not appear to be a factor.
As to the fire that broke out after the crash that consumed both vehicles, the investigator says he believes a gasoline saddle tank on the semi may have ruptured and a spark from a damaged power line may have set off the intense blaze.
Says the investigator, "this may be a case of a pure accident with no one at fault."
