New rash of burglaries erupt in Grand Island

Tools

Burglaries in Grand Island continue to be on the rise. This was after 16 occurred this weekend. That brings the total to 106 since January 1st.

According to Grand Island police, the abnormally large amount involves both homes and businesses.

The big home items include gaming systems and big screen televisions.

Perhaps the most difficult part for police is that the crimes have been scattered across the city, but they don't think there's a lot of people behind the break-ins.

"Given the time frame, we think there's only a few suspects committing the majority of the crimes, but we won't know for sure until later in the investigation," said Sergeant Jim Duering.

If you see anything suspicious be sure to contact police.
